Short circuit manifests when two plates of opposite polarity touch each other, it can be latent or clear.
Short circuit can be detected by measuring battery voltage that will result less than the normal by a value of 2V. Re-charging the battery you can find what element is defective in fact, this one do not “seethe”.

2. Mechanical interruption
Mechanical interruption happens because of an imperfect welding process during the production of a battery or because of a long period of short circuit. It can be detected by measuring the tension that will be zero.

3. Polarity inversion
Polarity inversion happens when the exact correspondence between connections of polarity + and – is not respected.

4. Sulfation
Sulfation arises after a long period of inactivity of a discharged battery. It causes the hardening of the positive plates and the formation of an insulating sulphate sheet that prevents ionic exchange between plates. Sulfation can be detected by measuring the voltage that will result normal or greater than usual, while the density will remain very low for every elements. If the damage is not too deep, battery can be recovered by means of a so-called ”impulsive de-sulphator”; other way you have to mechanically adjust the plates.

5. Mechanical break
Mechanical break happens because of accidental fall or impact during transportation.

6. Loss of efficiency
Loss of efficiency is due to a defect in the charge devices of your vehicle, i.e. alternator, regulator etc.
